Hello friends of the Orchard!
We hope your new year is off to a great start! We have been busy working on making this year a great one through many projects, but especially through one specific effort we would like to tell you about here!
This week we focused on the distribution of 200 food totes to the community. This project is made possible through a grant from LISC, and this will be an ongoing project through the spring and into the summer! The totes included lots of fresh produce, including celery, citrus, and a salad mix. We also distributed 300 pounds of dried goods. These totes then journeyed to several schools and assisted living centers in our community, where they will be distributed to individuals.
This projects allows us to reach people who may not have access to the produce we sell at the farmer’s market, or who are in need of fresh, healthy, organic produce. As these totes are distributed weekly, and will vary as the season changes, we will be providing new resources here to highlight seasonal recipes and cooking instructions for dried goods. Even if you are not a recipient of one of these totes, hopefully this will be a good resource to help you shop seasonally, or use new produce items!
Finally, a big shoutout to our team this week! Thank you for all your hard work on assembling these totes- we are looking forward to next week!
